April in Miami is the tail end of the best tourist season. Winter visitors have largely gone home, the Spring Break crowds of March are thinning, and the summer humidity has not yet fully arrived. It is a good transition month: warm, lively, and slightly less hectic than the February to March peak.

Weather

April in Miami sees daytime temperatures of 27C to 29C with growing humidity. Evenings stay warm at around 21C. Sunshine is common and the sea temperature is pleasant for swimming, around 25C. The rainy season begins properly in May or June, so April is mostly dry. Pack light, breathable clothing and sunscreen. Even in April the sun is intense.

Crowds and Prices

March is Miami Beach's most expensive and crowded month. April is noticeably calmer and hotels drop their rates as Spring Break ends. By mid-April, the Art Deco district and Ocean Drive are busy but not wall-to-wall. This is a good time to visit the beach without fighting for space. Ultra Music Festival and Art Basel are not in April (they are in March and December respectively), so April avoids those event price spikes.

What's On

Miami is an event-driven city and April's calendar is lighter than peak season. The Wynwood Walls street art district is excellent year-round. The Miami Marlins baseball season is in full swing. April is a good month for food-focused visits: South Beach food tours, the Little Havana food culture, and the Coconut Grove and Coral Gables neighbourhoods are all pleasant in April weather.

One Thing to Watch

South Beach on weekend evenings in April is lively to the point of loud. The Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue clubs and bars run late and at high volume. If you want the beach without the nightlife noise, book accommodation a few blocks inland on Collins or Washington Avenue, or stay in Coconut Grove or Brickell for a different version of the city entirely.

Miami rewards people who go beyond South Beach, and April is comfortable enough to explore neighbourhoods on foot.
