Valencia in November is an underappreciated excellent decision. Spain's third city, always somewhat overshadowed by Madrid and Barcelona in the travel conversation, is very good in November: mild weather, low prices, and a city going about its life rather than managing tourist logistics.

Weather

Daytime temperatures sit between 14°C and 19°C through November, with some rain possible as Mediterranean weather systems move through. Valencia gets wetter in autumn than in summer, but November is generally more sunny than grey, particularly compared to Northern European standards. Evenings are cool, around 9°C to 11°C. A light jacket handles most situations.

Crowds and Prices

Low season. Hotels in the Ruzafa and El Carmen neighbourhoods, and around the old town, are at very accessible prices. The City of Arts and Sciences complex is far more comfortable to visit than in summer. The Central Market (Mercado Central) operates on its normal schedule and is, in November, actually functional rather than purely photogenic.

What's On

Todos los Santos (All Saints' Day) on November 1 is a public holiday in Spain. The city's restaurant scene, which is excellent, runs normally through November: paella, fideuà, and the local rice dishes are at their best in the cooler months when the heat doesn't make a large plate of food feel like a survival challenge.

Valencia's Turia Gardens, the 9-kilometre park that runs through the city on the former riverbed, is excellent for walking and cycling in November's cooler temperatures.

One Thing to Watch

Valencia experienced catastrophic flooding in late October 2024 in the DANA weather event, one of the most destructive floods in modern Spanish history. The city has rebuilt significantly, but it's worth checking current conditions for specific areas, particularly south of the city, before your visit. The historic centre and the main tourist areas were less affected, but local information matters here.
