Seville in October might be the best version of any city in this guide. The summer heat, which peaks at 40°C or above in July and August, is gone. The tourists who couldn't cope with those temperatures have left. The city, which is already one of Spain's most beautiful, runs at human pace again. The Alcazar gardens, the cathedral, the Barrio Santa Cruz, the tapas bars: all of it is significantly better in October than in any summer month. We rate this very highly.
Weather
Genuinely excellent. Early October sits around 24-27°C, which is warm but entirely comfortable for walking, exploring, and sitting outside. Late October cools to 18-21°C, which remains very pleasant. Rain is possible but Seville in October is rarely wet. This is southern Spain's best outdoor weather, the same sun and warmth as summer but without the intensity that makes Seville difficult in July and August. Pack light clothing with a layer for evenings.
Crowds and Prices
Significantly quieter than summer. The Real Alcazar, one of Spain's most visited monuments, has shorter queues. The narrow streets of the Barrio Santa Cruz, which become gridlocked with tour groups in summer, are walkable and enjoyable again. Hotel prices drop from the summer peak. The city's tapas culture, which operates across the old town's bars and restaurants, becomes more accessible when you're not competing with tour groups for table space.
What's On
Seville's cultural calendar is active in October. The Bienal de Flamenco runs in even-numbered years (not 2026) but live flamenco is available year-round in dedicated venues and some bars. The Real Betis and Sevilla FC football calendar runs through October, and an Andalusian derby is worth checking fixtures for. The Doñana National Park day trips (flamingos, lynx habitat, wetlands) are best in spring and autumn when the heat doesn't affect the wildlife viewing.
One Thing to Watch
The Real Alcazar requires advance booking year-round, October included. It's one of the most visited monuments in Spain and walk-up availability is unreliable even outside peak season. Book before you travel. The same applies to the Cathedral and La Giralda tower: the combination ticket sells out on popular days. Secure these before you arrive and then enjoy the rest of Seville spontaneously.
