Seville in June is genuinely hot. Not warm, not uncomfortable: hot. Temperatures regularly exceed 35°C and some days push 38-40°C. It's one of the hottest cities in Europe in summer and June is the beginning of that season. This isn't a reason not to go, but it requires a specific strategy to visit without suffering.
Weather
Expect highs of 33-38°C through June, with intense sun and very low humidity. The heat is dry and the shade is meaningful: step out of direct sun and it's immediately more bearable. But the midday streets of the Santa Cruz quarter in 37°C sunshine are not comfortable for walking. The Alcazar gardens are shaded and beautiful. Evenings drop to 22-25°C, which is when the city comes alive. Early mornings are excellent.
Crowds and Prices
June brings increasing tourist numbers but fewer than July and August. The Real Alcazar and the Cathedral are the main queuing points: book in advance. Accommodation prices are high but not summer peak. The siesta culture means much of the city closes from roughly 2-5pm, which aligns well with sheltering from the worst heat. Work with this rather than against it.
What's On
Corpus Christi processions in June are significant events in Seville, with elaborate religious street processions in the cathedral quarter. The city's tapas culture is year-round, but the evening tapas crawl in the Triana and Santa Cruz neighbourhoods is particularly good in June when the nights are warm enough to move between bars comfortably.
One Thing to Watch
The Alcazar (Real Alcazar de Sevilla) is one of the most beautiful buildings in Spain and completely non-negotiable. It's also heavily booked in advance in summer. Book your slot as soon as your dates are confirmed. Timing your visit for 9am when gates open means seeing the gardens in morning light before the heat becomes serious. The throne room, the Admiral's Courtyard, and the gardens are each worth time.
