Las Vegas in October is excellent. The brutal desert summer is over, temperatures become genuinely comfortable for walking the Strip, and the city's events calendar fills up with some of the year's biggest draws. It's not shoulder season in the traditional sense, October is busy, but it's busy in a better way than August, when the heat makes outdoor Las Vegas unpleasant.

Weather

October is one of the best months weatherwise. Expect 22-28°C in early October, dropping to 18-24°C by late October. Minimal rain, low humidity, and comfortable evenings for the first time since spring. Walking the Strip becomes enjoyable rather than a survival exercise. The desert light in October is clear and golden, which makes the city's surreal landscape look even more cinematic than usual.

Crowds and Prices

Busy. October is one of Las Vegas's more popular months and hotel prices reflect that. The combination of good weather, major events, and the pre-holiday party season means the Strip operates at high capacity. Book hotels and restaurants well ahead.## What's On

The Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix preparations begin in earnest in October (the race itself is in November), and some infrastructure changes and closures on and around the Strip can affect movement. The Las Vegas Marathon draws runners in late November but training events populate October. Halloween is taken seriously on the Strip, with elaborate themed events at major venues. The iHeartRadio Music Festival has often run in September, but Las Vegas's concert calendar in October features major headliners across multiple venues.

One Thing to Watch

F1 Grand Prix infrastructure work on the Las Vegas Strip can start affecting access and creating disruption from mid-October onwards as the November race approaches. Street sections get cordoned off, some entrances and exits change, and the general Strip experience shifts. If you're visiting specifically to enjoy the Strip's walkability, early October is better before the race preparations accelerate. If F1 is your reason for going, you're already planning around the race anyway.
