Las Vegas in April: What to Expect

April is one of the best months to visit Las Vegas. The weather is genuinely pleasant rather than brutal, the city is busy but not at its absolute peak, and the calendar has enough major events to keep things lively. If you have been on the fence about timing a Vegas trip, April makes a strong case.

Weather

April in Las Vegas sees daytime temperatures of 22C to 27C (low 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit). Nights cool to around 12C. This is desert spring at its best: dry, warm, and comfortable for walking the Strip. No rain to speak of. No oppressive summer heat. Pack light clothing for the day and a layer for air-conditioned casinos and cool evenings.

Crowds and Prices

Las Vegas pricing is driven by events and conventions rather than seasons. April is not peak summer, but major conventions at the Convention Center regularly fill hotels and drive prices up for specific weekends. Check what is on in Vegas during your specific dates. Easter weekend tends to be busy for family visitors. Spring Break (late March into April) brings a younger crowd.

What's On

The National Finals Rodeo is in December, but April has its own slate. The Las Vegas Grand Prix F1 race is in November, but spring brings major boxing events, residency shows, and the ongoing headliner calendar at the MGM Grand, T-Mobile Arena, and the Sphere. Check specific dates for your visit. The Coachella Valley Music Festival in nearby California (Indio, about 3 hours away) in April draws visitors to the region.

One Thing to Watch

Hotel rates in Vegas fluctuate dramatically based on what is happening that specific weekend. Check conventions, major fights, and residency schedules before booking. A Tuesday to Thursday stay can cost significantly less than a Friday to Sunday with the same hotel for the same category of room. Mid-week Vegas in April is often excellent value.
