Four days in Las Vegas is actually a smart length. Long enough to see the Strip properly, do a show, get out to the desert, and recover slightly from the previous night. Short enough that you haven't completely lost track of time or your bank balance. Las Vegas is the rare city where four days feels both sufficient and perfectly calibrated.
What 4 Days Unlocks
The Strip is the obvious starting point, but it's bigger than most people expect. Walking from the Mandalay Bay end to the Venetian takes about an hour at tourist pace, not counting stops. With four days you can walk it in both directions, see the interior of the main casinos (the Bellagio, the Venetian, the Wynn, the Cosmopolitan), and experience both the daytime absurdity and the night-time spectacle without feeling rushed.
Shows and experiences become part of the trip rather than an either-or choice. A Cirque du Soleil performance, a magic show, a comedy act, a residency concert: with four days you can do two or three of these across different evenings.
The day trips from Las Vegas are extraordinary and four days makes at least one mandatory. The Grand Canyon South Rim is a long but doable day trip. The Hoover Dam and Lake Mead is an easier half-day. Valley of Fire State Park, about an hour from the city, is one of the most dramatic red rock landscapes in the south-west and often missed by Vegas visitors who don't know it's there. Zion National Park is a three-hour drive but worth it for a full day.
Fremont Street and downtown Las Vegas are a completely different world from the Strip and usually get overlooked. Four days gives you the evening to go there.
What You'll Still Miss
Bryce Canyon is four hours and really needs an overnight stay. The full South-west national park circuit, including Zion, Bryce, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, is a five-to-seven-day road trip and not a Las Vegas day trip.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is 17 miles west of the Strip and one of the best hikes in Nevada: four days might not include it unless you're specifically planning for it.
How to Structure 4 Days Well
Day 1: Strip walk and casino exploration. Afternoon at leisure, no big plans. Evening with the Bellagio fountains and a show or a show-and-dinner combination.
Day 2: Grand Canyon day trip (long day, early start, worth it). Or Zion if you prefer dramatic canyon walls and hiking.
Day 3: downtown Fremont Street, the Neon Museum (book ahead), and the Arts District. Very different city from the Strip. Evening back on the Strip.
Day 4: late morning, brunch somewhere good, one final casino wander, and a relaxed departure.
