Prague in June is spectacular and very busy. The Old Town is one of the best-preserved historic city centres in Europe, the castle is world-class, and summer light makes both look extraordinary. You will share it with a lot of other people who have worked this out. Go early, stay late, and plan around the crowds.
Weather
Expect highs of 22-26°C through June, with warm days and long evenings. Rain is possible but June is generally good. The city's outdoor terraces along the Vltava are excellent in this weather. Pack light summer clothes and comfortable shoes for the cobblestones. The Old Town's uneven stone streets in summer heat will end your day faster than anything else if you're not in proper footwear.
Crowds and Prices
Prague is one of Europe's most popular city break destinations and June is high season. Charles Bridge is extremely crowded through the day: cross it at dawn or after 9pm for any semblance of atmosphere. Prague Castle requires advance booking. The Old Town Square astronomical clock draws crowds every hour. Prices have risen significantly in Prague over recent years and it's no longer the bargain it once was, though it's still more affordable than Amsterdam or Paris.
What's On
Prague Spring International Music Festival runs through late May and into early June, with classical concerts in Prague's historic venues including the Rudolfinum and the Estates Theatre. The city also has outdoor film screenings, various cultural events, and a lively beer garden scene that comes fully alive in June. Czech beer culture is the best reason to spend an evening at a classic Czech pub.
One Thing to Watch
Charles Bridge is genuinely difficult in peak daytime hours. The attraction is real but the experience at 2pm in June is a wall of people, selfie sticks, and trinket vendors. Either arrive before 7am to see it with some space, or accept that you're there for the view and the history rather than the atmosphere. The bridge's Lesser Town side leads into one of Prague's most rewarding neighbourhoods for walking.
