Hong Kong in November is excellent. The oppressive summer humidity that makes July and August genuinely difficult has gone, replaced by clear skies, warm but manageable temperatures, and the kind of conditions that make the city's extraordinary mix of urban density and hiking trails genuinely enjoyable.
Weather
Expect temperatures between 18°C and 24°C, low humidity, and mostly clear skies. November is one of the driest months of the year in Hong Kong. The light is clear and the visibility across the harbour and to the surrounding hills is at its best. This is hiking weather, Star Ferry weather, and sitting on the Peak Tram looking down at the skyline weather.
Crowds and Prices
November is part of Hong Kong's peak tourist season, driven precisely by the fact that the weather is so much better than summer. International visitors and mainland Chinese tourists both increase in volume. Book accommodation a few weeks in advance and expect attractions to be busy but not unbearably so. Prices are higher than the summer shoulder months but the trade-off is entirely justified.
What's On
The Hong Kong International Cricket Sixes is typically held in November at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground, attracting teams from around the cricket world. The Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival runs in late October into early November at the harbourfront, and some events extend into the month.
The city's LED Harbour Spectacular light show over Victoria Harbour continues on its regular schedule and is well worth positioning yourself for on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront at 8pm.
One Thing to Watch
November is the transition from the hot, humid season to the cooler, drier season, and this transition can occasionally produce brief rain spells in early November before the dry season firmly establishes itself. The hiking trails on Lantau Island and the Dragon's Back can be muddy from residual autumn rain. Check trail conditions if hiking is on your list.
