The Hong Kong Rugby Sevens historically takes place in late March to early April and is one of the biggest sporting and social events on the city's calendar, drawing large international crowds. April is a good month for hiking the city's extensive trail network before summer humidity makes it unpleasant. The Dragon's Back trail on Hong Kong Island and Lantau Peak are achievable in April with proper hydration and an early start. The Peak Tram and Kowloon waterfront are year-round and good in spring light.

One Thing to Watch

The Rugby Sevens (if it falls in your April window) fills central hotels and drives prices up significantly for the tournament weekend. If you are not coming for the rugby, avoid that specific weekend or book very early. Beyond that, April is one of the calmer and more manageable months for visiting Hong Kong.
