These are the most convenient options for visitors and cover most major European cities.

Bounce: The most widely used app-based luggage storage service in Europe. Bags are stored at partner locations — typically cafes, hostels, and shops — which have been vetted and are insured. Pricing is around £4-6 per bag per day. Book through the app, drop off and collect at the partner's opening hours. Available in Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Rome, Lisbon, Prague, Vienna, and more.

Stasher: Similar model to Bounce with good coverage across major European cities. Pricing is comparable (around £5-7 per bag). The app works in the same way: book ahead, show your confirmation at the location, collect when you're ready. Stasher's city coverage is strong in the UK (multiple London locations) and Western Europe.

Both services include insurance for stored items (typically up to £1,000-1,500 per bag), which left luggage counters often don't provide.

Left Luggage at Stations

Most major European train stations and airports have staffed left luggage counters or coin-operated lockers. They're reliable and often cheaper per hour but less convenient than app-based options if you need access outside the counter's opening hours.

Pricing varies: expect €4-8 per day at a staffed counter, more for large lockers at airports. At very busy stations (Paris Gare du Nord, Barcelona Sants, Milan Centrale), expect queues during peak hours. Lockers fill up on busy travel days.

Hotel Storage

Most hotels will store your bags before check-in and after check-out at no charge for guests. This is the most overlooked option. If you're staying at the hotel the night before or after, ask at reception. It's free, secure, and available without an app.

If you're not staying locally, some hotels will store bags for non-guests for a small fee or as a favour — it doesn't hurt to ask at a mid-range hotel near your sightseeing area.

Booking Ahead on Busy Days

For popular tourist cities during summer or at weekends, booking via Bounce or Stasher in advance is worthwhile. Availability at good locations fills up, and arriving to find your nearest option full on departure day is an avoidable problem.
