Temperatures sit between 19°C and 23°C, occasionally warmer. The days are long with daylight stretching past 10pm in early July. It's genuinely comfortable: warm enough to sit outside without a jacket in the afternoon, cool enough to actually enjoy walking around. Pack a light jacket for evenings, particularly if you're eating outside late. Rain is possible but rarely heavy.

Crowds and Prices

July is peak season and Copenhagen knows it. Nyhavn fills with tourists, the Tivoli Gardens are operating full summer hours, and accommodation prices are at their annual high. That said, the city is well-resourced for visitors and the crowds don't overwhelm it the way they do in smaller cities. Book ahead for the most popular restaurants, particularly in Vesterbro and Nørreport. The Copenhagen Card can be worth it in July given the number of sights you'll cover.

Tivoli Gardens operates its summer season through July with outdoor concerts, rides, and the famous illuminations. Beaches at Amager Strandpark get busy with locals on warm days.

Restaurant prices in Copenhagen are high year-round, and July adds peak-season demand on top. The most talked-about restaurants in Vesterbro and Frederiksberg book out weeks ahead in July. If dinner at a specific restaurant matters to you, book before you fly. Budget travellers should lean into the street food market at Reffen on the waterfront, which offers excellent food at prices that won't reframe your holiday financially.
