Barcelona in November: What to Expect

Barcelona in November doesn't get the credit it deserves. The summer chaos has evaporated, prices are significantly lower, and the city gets on with being itself rather than performing for tourists. The weather is far from guaranteed, but it's genuinely pleasant more often than not.

Weather

Expect daytime temperatures between 14°C and 18°C, with cooler evenings around 9°C to 12°C. Rain is possible, often arriving in short, sharp spells rather than all-day drizzle. Barcelona gets some of its clearest, sunniest winter days in early November before the wetter stretch mid-month. A light jacket handles most evenings; you won't need heavy winter gear.

Crowds and Prices

Deep low season. Hotels on Las Ramblas and in the Gothic Quarter that are prohibitively expensive in summer drop to accessible prices. Sagrada Familia and Park Guell are significantly calmer, though both still require timed entry tickets booked in advance. At many attractions, November is the first month where you can genuinely browse rather than shuffle.

What's On

La Castanyada falls on November 1, a Catalan tradition centred around roasted chestnuts and sweet potato. Street sellers appear across the city, and it's a good-natured local festival worth catching. The Barcelona Jazz Festival (Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barcelona) runs through November with concerts across the city, from major venues to smaller clubs in Gracia and the Eixample.

Late November sees the first Christmas stalls appear near the Cathedral and at the Fira de Santa Llucia, which typically opens in late November or early December.

One Thing to Watch

The beaches are off-season in every sense: cold, often windy, and largely empty. If beach access is central to your trip, November is the wrong month. Everything else about the city, the architecture, the food scene, the markets, the nightlife, holds up perfectly well.
