The Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum are 400 metres apart on Museumplein. Most visitors to Amsterdam want to see both. Many don't have time for both. Here's how to decide.

The Van Gogh Museum is dedicated entirely to Vincent van Gogh. It's a more contained experience — most visitors complete it in two to three hours.
